About Us

To provide Higher Education at doorsteps, Government of Jammu and Kashmir sanctioned 50 new college in the year 2019, vide Govt. Order No. 48-HE of 2019 Dated 05-02-2019 and establishment of Government Degree College Awantipora is a landmark step taken in this regard. The land measuring about 65 kannals has been identified and acquired at Kanjinag Awantipora. The developmental works shall be started in coming yearand process for the construction of main building(s) of the college has been initiated. Additionally four prefabricated huts of four rooms are being constructed for laboratory purpose. The furniture for class rooms has been procured and is in place. The equipments and chemicals for the laboratories have also been procured. To cater the needs of the students, books have been purchased and almost 2000 books are in library. The digitization process shall be started very soon.
The college is running undergraduate course in Humanities and Sciences and in this connection, the Dean College Development Council, University of Kashmir has granted affiliationin Humanities and affiliation to Science course I sin pipeline. The college is desirous to start Science and Commerce subjects from the next academic session.. The courses in Humanities include Communicative English, Environment Science, Sociology, Education, Political Science and History. The college is on its way to broaden the entire spectrum of education in the light of modern perspective. In the coming years many more academic endeavours are awaiting a start.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Eligibility for admission and procedure
Candidates seeking admission in BG. must have qualified 10+2 exam or its equivalent through any recognized Board or University of the country with at least 45% marks for general category and 40% marks for reserved category.
The admission to UG Course begins after a formal notification is issued by University of Kashmir. The students have to apply for the admission online at www.kashmiruniversity.net and the downloaded hard copy of the form are to be deposited in the college admission section during office hours. The form should be accompanied with the following documents.
i) Two attested Xerox copies of the 10+2 marks card.
ii) Original provisional / character certificate from the institution last attended.
iii) One attested Xerox copy of category certificate if any.
iv) Two attested Xerox copies of D.O.B. certificate.
v) Original fee receipt.
vi) One attested Xerox copy of PRC
vii) Duly attested affidavit from 1st Class Magistrate indicating that the candidates are not on rolls in any academic institution or serving in any Government or Semi Government department during gap period.
Note: Candidates shall bring original documents at the time of submission of hard copy of the admission form for verification.
